Job summary

Our client is seeking an MEP Pre-Construction Manager - Mechanical to lead the technical development of mechanical MEP packages in the pre-construction process.

Based in Reading on a hybrid basis with travel to UK projects, the role focuses on reducing technical risk, improving scope clarity and ensuring a controlled handover to delivery teams. You will lead technical development from survey through design development and handover, with progression opportunities within Technical Services.

Qualifications

• Experience in Mechanical Building Services or Pre-Construction
• Background in fit-out, refurbishment, life-science or technically complex buildings
• Strong understanding of mechanical infrastructure, HVAC and pipework
• Experience reviewing mechanical designs and contractor submissions
• Knowledge of LEV, fume cupboards, lab environments would be advantageous
• Commercial awareness to identify scope gaps and risks
• Understanding of UK Building Regulations and standards

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical development of MEP packages from opportunity through to contract handover
• Review designs, drawings, specifications for compliance and buildability
• Identify risks, scope gaps, exclusions and design responsibilities
• Collaborate with commercial and estimating teams to improve tender clarity and pricing
• Review contractor proposals, tender returns and technical clarifications
• Prepare project-specific MEP scopes, assumptions and tender information
• Lead pre-contract handovers with clear risks and outstanding items
• Provide technical support to delivery teams as required
