Job Description:

At Arcadis, we focus on attracting, retaining, and developing people who share our passion and commitment to improve quality of life. We offer opportunities to transform your world through client work, upskilling, championing equality and inclusion, or charity involvement. Our core value is 'people first', supported by our Lovinklaan foundation, investing in your long-term growth. You will have the opportunity to own your career, work on industry-defining projects, and find solutions that make a difference.

Role description

The role is suitable for applicants with a strong building services engineering background, whether through MEP contracting, consulting, or facilities management. The candidate should have a good understanding of commercial mechanical, electrical, and public health installations, along with knowledge of MEP regulations and standards.

Operating within our Technical Due Diligence (TDD) Team in the Lenders, Investors & Insurers Sector, the MEP Engineering Surveyor will support technical assessments within the Real Estate sector, across various property portfolios.

The main responsibilities include assessing services installations (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Electrical, Vertical transportation, Drainage, etc.), understanding their design and condition, and providing insights into their performance and operational risks. This involves non-intrusive inspections, reviewing maintenance and compliance certifications, identifying defects, and assessing future lifecycle needs, considering factors like obsolescence. The role also involves evaluating commercial risks, lease impacts, and recommending mitigation strategies.

The Surveyor will conduct surveys, prepare defect reports, and engage with clients directly. For larger portfolios, support in management and coordination will be necessary to ensure quality and timely delivery.

This role offers an opportunity to deepen MEP knowledge, understand lease structures, and develop within our Asset Assurance and Management services for clients.

Role accountabilities

  1. Operate independently with attention to detail and organization.
  2. Prepare technical reports and provide concise, commercial advice.
  3. Represent the company professionally, building strong client relationships.
  4. Develop and maintain good communication with clients.
  5. Manage client expectations and deliver work timely and accurately.
  6. Guide junior team members.
  7. Maintain professional appearance and articulation.
  8. Manage projects and programs effectively.
  9. Work away from the home office and possibly abroad for short periods.
  10. Eligible for security checks such as DBS.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Engineering qualifications, ideally with experience in electrical or mechanical trades.
  2. Additional educational qualifications (ONC/HNC/HND/Degree) are preferred.
  3. Experience in a similar role, such as M&E consulting in Asset Management, is desirable.
  4. Experience in the built environment and technical report writing.
  5. Proficiency with surveying and reporting software.
