Job summary

HAND Enterprise Solutions LTD. in Walsall is seeking a dedicated Mentor Support Worker to help care-experienced young people aged 16-18 build confidence, life skills and independence.

The role offers Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with no sleep-ins and a strong focus on mentorship and personal development. You will support young people to access education, training and employment opportunities while promoting wellbeing and safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people in care, support, education or community settings.
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and risk management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Availability to work full time, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Support young people to develop independent living skills.
  • Encourage engagement with education, training and employment opportunities.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance and emotional support.
  • Promote positive health, wellbeing and resilience.
  • Safeguard young people and manage risk effectively.
  • Manage challenging behaviour positively.
  • Maintain accurate support plans, records and reports.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, social workers and partner agencies.
  • Support compliance with Ofsted standards and organisational policies.

The Role As a Mentor Support Worker

You will provide practical and emotional support to young people, helping them develop the skills, confidence and independence needed to achieve positive outcomes.

You will build meaningful professional relationships, encourage personal growth and support young people to reach their full potential.

About You

We're looking for someone who is compassionate, resilient and committed to helping young people succeed.

You will have experience supporting young people in a care, support, education or community setting and be confident building positive and professional relationships.

Essential Requirements
  • Experience working with young people within Supported Living, Residential Care, Children's Services, Leaving Care, Youth Work or a similar setting
  • Good understanding of safeguarding procedures and risk management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with young people
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Access to your own vehicle
  • Availability to work full time, Monday to Friday
  • Right to work in the UK
