Job description

Everyone’s Turning Point is unique. It’s the moment when they realise they’ve made a small, but important, step forward. Very often, that small step is the start of something bigger, but only when the right support, advice and services are in place. That’s where you come in. You’ll make a real difference to their lives as you develop the personal, flexible and recovery-focused support plans they need to help turn things around. Passionate about people, you’ll support them to take control, improve their quality of life and face the future with confidence.

We are looking for dedicated, passionate, and skilled Recovery Workers to join our team at the new Ashford-based Recovery House. This residential service has 5 rooms and provides up to 5 days of support for individuals with enduring mental health needs in crisis.

During their stay, service users benefit from a safe and therapeutic environment, including quiet spaces, social areas, and sensory environments with activities. Our person-centred approach involves personalised support assessment, planning, and review. The goal is to support the ongoing needs of our service users, help them build on existing skills, learn new ones, develop effective coping mechanisms, and build confidence to manage their mental health and maintain wellbeing.

Role Responsibilities

You will provide recovery-focused support to service users according to their support plans. You should have strong skills in positive communication and engagement, demonstrating unconditional positive regard for service users.

You will have the maturity to work within a positive framework supporting clients and deliver services and interventions in a person-centred, non-judgmental, recovery-based manner.

You will collaborate with the service user’s support circle to enable individuals to be happy, healthy, and successful in achieving their life goals.

Your typical duties will include:

  1. Providing support and guidance to service users
  2. Supporting service users with their medication
  3. Maintaining daily records and incident reports
  4. Assisting in the induction of new staff members
  5. Upholding cleanliness and infection prevention measures

You will work flexibly on a roster, including office hours, evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.

Two posts are for dedicated night Recovery Workers. These individuals, primarily lone workers, will be supported by a site-based sleep-in colleague available in emergencies. Night workers will work some weekends but will not cover other shifts.

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience in mental health is desirable but not essential. What matters most is a genuine desire to support recovery and a can-do attitude.

We seek compassionate, proactive, professional, highly motivated, and hardworking individuals who are keen to support those with mental health and complex care needs, including during crises.

You should have the maturity to work positively supporting clients and deliver interventions in a person-centred, non-judgmental, recovery-focused way.

Good communication skills are essential for working with people of all backgrounds and liaising with other professionals.

We also value personal skills and interests such as sports, arts and crafts, music, and cooking, which can enrich the support we offer.
