Would you like a role supporting the mental health of young people? Do you want to support young children and adolescents aged 5 to 16 with trauma, mental health, and behavioural challenges?
An inclusive specialist school for children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs is looking for a Teaching Assistant to support behaviour and mental health issues in Chippenham. Graduates qualified in Psychology, Counselling, or Criminology are preferred, but candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
The students at the school are aged 5 to 18 and struggle to process and regulate their emotions, stemming from childhood trauma, which causes stress, anxiety, attachment issues, and depression. As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will help pupils cope with their emotions and foster trust within the school environment. You will also shadow the class teacher and assist with classroom tasks.
The SEN students are aged 5 to 16 with developmental trauma, emotional needs, and behavioural challenges. You will support their well-being and personal development, helping to raise attainment by improving self-esteem and reducing barriers to learning.
This role offers the opportunity to work alongside therapists and psychologists on-site, gaining practical experience with young people with significant needs. It is ideal for aspiring educational or occupational psychologists, therapists, counsellors, teachers, or criminal justice officers.
