Academics is hiring a Mental Health Teaching Assistant for a specialist school in Esher, Surrey. The role supports children and young people aged 7-17 with SEMH needs, MLD, and/or autism, in a nurturing setting.

You will assist the class teacher, provide 1:1 and small group support, and help maintain safeguarding and positive relationships to foster learning and inclusion. The position runs Monday to Friday, term time only, with on-site training and CPD provided.

Qualifications

  • Candidates registering with Academics will need to have or apply for an Enhanced DBS and/or overseas police check where appropriate

  • Ability to build trusted and effective relationships with the pupils
  • Willing to do 1:1 and small group support and work with pupils
  • Follow the safeguarding guidelines and implement them in the classroom
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be a good listener with a compassionate and caring approach
  • Needs to attend staff meetings and complete relevant CPD
  • Able to commute to Esher

This specialist primary and secondary school in Esher is looking for compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant's to join the team. The school supports children and young people aged 7-17 (Years 3-12) who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and/or Autism Spectrum conditions. These pupils may have experienced disrupted education, school refusal, anxiety or exclusion, find mainstream setting overwhelming, need small groups, high adult consistency and trusted relationships to succeed.

Start date September, trial days taking place to ensure the role and school is right for you
Fantastic on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all pupils
Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, term time only
93- 105 per day

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
