Job summary

Practice Plus Group are recruiting a Mental Health Support Worker to join the team at HMP Whatton, a category C men's prison near Bingham, Nottinghamshire. The role is full-time (37.5 hours per week) with a salary up to £29,723 per annum.

You will assist the mental health team in delivering care, contribute to an aspirational care environment, and benefit from a bespoke induction and clear career development opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the mental health team in delivering immediate and ongoing care for patients referred to the mental health team.
• Contribute to an aspirational integrated mental health care environment, ensuring patients are treated with care, respect and dignity.
• Provide evidence-based interventions within the Practice Plus Group wellbeing model.
• Maintain a safe working environment in line with Health and Safety requirements.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Support Worker to join team at HMP Whatton, a category C men's prison located in in the village of Whatton, near Bingham in Nottinghamshire.

Hours

The site currently offers 37.5 hours per week

Monday - Friday: core office hours

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £29,723 per annum

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks

What you'll be doing

• Assist the mental health team in the delivery of immediate and, where appropriate, ongoing care for patients referred to the mental health team.
• Contribute to the positive and aspirational workings of the integrated mental health care team, ensuring that each and every patient is treated with care, respect and dignity.
• Provide evidence based interventions within the Practice Plus Group health care wellbeing model
• Share a good working knowledge of talking therapies and comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, maintaining a safe working environment for both staff and patients.
• Have opportunities to dual run group sessions with the nurses to gain valuable experience.

Qualifications, skills and experience required:

• Willingness to undertake training in mental health awareness, suicide, self harm and ACCT procedures as well as health promotion and screening.
• Previous experience as a mental health support worker - desired
• Good interpersonal skills
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Able to build constructive relationships with warmth and empathy, using good communication skills.
