Job description

Join to apply for the Mental Health Practitioner role at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.

The postholder will work within the Police Pathways service, offering a comprehensive mental health service that includes the Crisis Response Vehicle and patients detained under a s136 of the MHA.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Arranging the initial mental health assessment by the on-call psychiatrist.
  2. Providing clinical expertise and demonstrating a sound understanding of issues related to identification, assessment, treatment, and management of patients detained under section 136.
  3. Arranging, coordinating, and supporting Mental Health Act assessments if clinically indicated.
  4. Ensuring adherence to all aspects of the mental health act.
  5. Ensuring safe discharge plans or coordination of the safe transfer of care from the HBPoS.
  6. Supporting the work of Greater Manchester Police and Pennine Care to improve care and management of patients detained under section 136, including pathway development and transition from police custody to healthcare.
