Job summary

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an MHA Compliance Officer to support lawful and rights-based administration of the Mental Health Act across the Trust Group. Based at NNUH, you will work with the MHA Administration Manager to scrutinise statutory processes and provide specialist guidance to staff on complex issues, ensuring timely, accurate documentation.

Experience in MHA administration is valued; full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Receiving and scrutinising statutory documentation, identifying errors and ensuring corrections are completed within legal timescales
• Providing written information to patients and their nearest relatives
• Coordinating Mental Health Tribunals and Associate Hospital Manager Reviews, including arranging hearings, notifying relevant parties and processing documentation in accordance with MHA legislation and the Code of Practice
• Managing competing priorities to ensure statutory deadlines are consistently achieved
• Maintaining accurate records and supporting data collection and reporting requirements
• Supporting with data analysis and reporting in the absence of the Mental Health Act Administration Manager, coordinating statutory documentation and information flows
• Supporting staff to ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act and associated legislation, safeguarding patients' legal rights, liaising with clinical teams and external professionals to obtain and process statutory documentation
• Working collaboratively with internal departments and external stakeholders, including Mental Health Liaison Teams and hospital clinical staff, safeguarding teams, AMHPs, IMHAs, solicitors and legal representatives, HM Courts & Tribunals Service, Ministry of Justice and the Care Quality Commission
• General administration tasks to support the NNUH Mental Health team and the Complex Health Hub
