We use the Museum's unique collections and our unrivalled expertise to tackle the biggest challenges facing the world today. We care for more than 80 million objects spanning billions of years and welcome more than five million visitors annually and 16 million visits to our website.

Today the Museum is more relevant and influential than ever. By attracting people from a range of backgrounds to work for us, we can continue to look at the world with fresh eyes and find new ways of doing things.

We employ 900 staff in a variety of roles, all united by our vision of a future where people and planet thrive. We need everyone to have the passion and drive to help us with our mission to create advocates for our planet and inspire millions to care about the natural world.

Diversity and inclusion matter to us.

Our vision is of a future where both people and the planet thrive. Diversity is one of our core values and we strive to build a workplace where everyone feels a sense of belonging. All new staff who join us learn about the importance of diversity and inclusion to the Museum and how to contribute to creating an inclusive environment.

We know we have more to do, but we are committed to ensuring that everyone who works at the Museum feels they can thrive and feel valued and respected.

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate to work in our busy Membership team to deliver administration and customer service to our growing supporter community. This includes managing our donor and member communications, such as emails, donor thank you cards, welcome packs and renewal notifications and providing campaign support for key projects. The role will also involve working with various software and CRM platforms to optimise data, collect payment and produce regular data reports.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisation and administration skills and have experience in delivering excellent customer service across all channels. Ideally, they will have experience in providing admin support for projects and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.

About you

We are a team that values excellent administrative, organisational, and time-management skills. The ability to prioritise tasks effectively is essential in our fast-paced environment, ensuring that key responsibilities are handled efficiently and deadlines are consistently met.

Providing outstanding customer service is at the heart of what we do. We look for individuals who can accurately assess and understand the needs and wants of both internal and external customers, responding promptly and appropriately to ensure satisfaction at every touchpoint.

Our work involves regular interaction with data, so experience with data management systems is important. A strong understanding of database management and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems—particularly Microsoft Dynamics.

Planning is central to our success, and we value team members who are highly organised and deadline-driven. Adaptability is equally important; we operate in a dynamic environment where people and systems often change, so being flexible and responsive is key.

Clear and effective communication, both verbal and written, is vital, as is the ability to tailor communication styles for different audiences. Attention to detail is also crucial—high levels of accuracy and quality in all outputs are expected.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, is required. Most importantly, we seek individuals with a positive, can-do attitude and a flexible approach, who are eager to contribute to a supportive and collaborative team culture.

Thriving at the Museum: the way we work

We are proud to work at the Museum and have identified the qualities we all need to embody to reach our shared ambition. This sits alongside the Museum’s values and forms the framework for the way we work.
