Job summary

Anglian Water Services is seeking a MEICA Commissioning Engineer to join AW Engineering. You’ll work on clean water and water recycling projects, ensuring assets are tested, optimised and ready for operation before handover.

This permanent role is regional (Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire) with a salary circa £44,862-£51,270 plus car allowance, offering a collaborative, safety‑focused engineering environment and clear opportunities to grow.

Qualifications

• HNC (or equivalent Level 4) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.
• Experience in water supply asset maintenance or commissioning.
• Experience in commissioning, operations, or maintenance (water/utilities preferred).
• Understanding of process control, instrumentation, or M&E systems.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute commissioning activities on site.
• Collaborate with design, delivery and operations teams for successful outcomes.
• Assist in site inspections, testing and performance verification of new assets.
• Produce and maintain commissioning documentation (method statements and risk assessments).

What You’ll Be Doing

Working within a multi-disciplinary team, you’ll play a key role in commissioning activities across a broad range of projects. With a focus on safety, quality, and performance, you’ll help ensure that new assets function as intended and deliver long‑term value for our customers and the environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the planning and execution of commissioning activities on site
• Collaborating with design, delivery, and operational teams to ensure successful project outcomes
• Assisting in site inspections, testing, and performance verification of new assets
• Producing and maintaining commissioning documentation, including method statements and risk assessments
• Helping to resolve technical issues and optimise performance
• Participating in site acceptance testing and early engagement with equipment suppliers
• Feeding into continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned processes

About You

You’re a hands‑on engineer with a collaborative mindset and a passion for technical delivery. You’re comfortable working in dynamic site environments and are eager to learn from experienced colleagues while contributing your own expertise.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• A HNC (or equivalent Level 4 qualification) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering
• Experience in water supply asset maintenance or commissioning
• Some relevant experience in commissioning, operations, or maintenance (preferably within the water or utilities sector)
• A good understanding of process control, instrumentation, or M&E systems
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to sites
• A proactive, solutions‑focused approach with a willingness to learn and adapt
