Job summary

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust seeks a proactive Medical Secretary to support the Consultant Psychiatrist and the PICU team. You will manage clinical correspondence, MDT notes, and ensure confidential records are maintained accurately.

The role involves attending MDT meetings, liaising with ward staff and external agencies, and handling governance-compliant documentation to ensure high-quality patient care in a specialist inpatient service.

Qualifications

• Provide comprehensive secretarial support to the Consultant Psychiatrist and medical team.
• Attend MDT meetings and document discussions, clinical decisions, actions and outcomes.
• Typing and processing clinical correspondence, reports, discharge summaries and referral letters.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining patient records and ensuring information is accurately recorded on Trust systems.
• Responding to enquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a professional and confidential manner.
• Supporting the administration of Mental Health Act documentation, tribunal reports and other statutory processes as required.
• Ensuring all work is completed in line with information governance and confidentiality standards.
