Wymondham Medical Partnership is seeking an enthusiastic Medical Secretary to provide essential administrative support to our GPs and Nurses. This role requires excellent IT, organizational, and communication skills, along with a commitment to confidentiality. This is a great opportunity to be part of a dedicated team providing administrative and secretarial support to our GPs and Nurses.
Full or part-time hours considered.
You will ideally have secretarial experience, have excellent IT, organisational and communication skills and have the ability to work as part of a team and as an individual. You will need to have great attention to detail working accurately, methodically and efficiently.
You will understand the absolute need for confidentiality as you will be dealing with sensitive information.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology and SystmOne would be an advantage.

Purpose and Scope:
The post holder will provide general secretarial support to the Doctors, Health Professionals and Practice Manager.
The post holder will provide a high quality service within the Practice and will contribute new ideas to improve and enhance the team’s performance.
The post holder will communicate effectively with patients, carers and team members, recognising that alternative methods of communication will be required on occasion.
The nature of this post requires confidentiality to be of paramount importance at all times.
Responsibilities:
1. To produce referral letters, letters to patients, non-referral letters to Consultants plus medical reports from outside agencies as required from dictation.
2. To prioritise Tasks first thing every morning and throughout the working day.
3. To liaise with hospital staff as and when necessary to chase up appointments, results and clinical letters.
4. To liaise with community staff such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, dieticians etc. concerning patients.
5. To liaise with Social Services and other agencies where necessary regarding patients welfare and needs.
6. To liaise with patients regarding any queries they may have re appointments, results and any other problems arising.
7. To manage incoming microsuction referrals and liaise with referring surgeries when necessary.
8. To register microsuction patients and liaise with patients regarding any queries.
9. To manage microsuction clinic appointments and book appointments when necessary.
10. To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.
11. To be aware of Child Protection and Vulnerable Adults issues and know how to act accordingly within the guidelines of the Practice’s policies for safeguarding.
12. To ensure observance and adherence to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
13. To participate in staff meetings, 1-2-1 meetings and the appraisal scheme and undertake training appropriate to the development of the job role and in line with the Practice’s statutory obligations.
14. To work to the agreed standards, policies and procedures and protocols of the Practice and be fully conversant with emergency procedures.
15. To carry out other duties as directed by the line manager/Practice Manager which are consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
