We are looking for an experienced medical receptionist to join our team at Hollyoaks Medical Centre.

We require a receptionist with a good understanding of EMIS WEB and proven experience of working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Hollyoaks Medical Centre is a friendly practice with 4,500 patients. The practice team works to high standards at all times in a fast, friendly-paced atmosphere.

Job responsibilities
  • Providing the first point of contact to patients and visitors to enable access to appropriate services in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Having thorough knowledge and working in accordance with practice policies and procedures.
  • Receiving and making telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt delivery.
  • Liaising with local hospitals and other agencies as appropriate.
  • Receiving telephone calls and entering them onto the triage list as appropriate, ensuring accurate information is recorded to enable the clinical team to deal with patient queries effectively.
  • Giving results of investigations/tests, e.g., blood, urine, etc., to patients.
  • Registering new patients and updating patient records as required.
  • Dealing with all general inquiries, explaining procedures, and making new and follow-up appointments.
  • Providing support for clinicians to enable the effective day-to-day running of the practice.
  • Undertaking any other tasks allocated by doctors/managers.

Repeat Prescriptions:

  • Having thorough knowledge of the repeat prescription procedures.
  • Actioning repeat prescription requests and ensuring they are ready for collection within 48 hours.
  • Dealing with queries relating to repeat prescriptions.
