Medical Lead Consultant Psychiatrist – Acute & Locked Rehabilitation Services (South-West Region)

Are you an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist seeking a senior leadership role that is both challenging and highly rewarding? This could be the perfect opportunity for you.

A leading independent mental health provider is looking for a Medical Lead Consultant Psychiatrist to oversee acute and locked rehabilitation services across the South-West region.

About the Role:

As Medical Lead, you will play a key role in clinical governance, service delivery, and medical management across these sites. You will also maintain a clinical caseload at the Exeter service while providing leadership and support to dedicated psychiatrists and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide senior clinical advisory support and contribute to the clinical strategy.
2. Lead quality improvement and clinical governance initiatives.
3. Oversee medical management, supervision, and recruitment of psychiatrists.
4. Represent the region within national clinical governance structures.
5. Act as Responsible Clinician for an inpatient caseload.
6. Collaborate in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency partnerships.
7. Implement the Mental Health Act and liaise with the Ministry of Justice (if applicable).
8. Lead clinical governance meetings and service development alongside Hospital Directors.
9. Participate in a two-tier on-call system as duty Responsible Clinician.

What We’re Looking For:

1. Registration on the Specialist Register for General Adult/Forensic/Rehabilitation Psychiatry with a valid licence to practice.
2. Previous medical leadership experience (desirable).
3. Right to work in the UK.
