Job summary

A major UK healthcare provider in City of Westminster is seeking a Laboratory Support Assistant to support lab operations. The candidate will rotate tasks, including data entry in the Laboratory Information Management System and assisting biomedical scientists. Ideal candidates will have GCSE qualifications in maths, science, and English, along with necessary skills for detailed and protocol-driven work. Overview

The successful candidate will rotate between reception, where they will receive, sort and number incoming samples and request forms before entering data onto the Laboratory Information Management System, and assist Biomedical Scientists and resident doctors at the dissection benches.

Other duties include making up solutions, maintaining stock around the department, cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment, and collecting samples from theatres and wards at The Royal London. Filing of material and completion of paperwork on a daily basis is an integral part of the role.

About the Pathology Partnership

The NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership is an arms-length organisation providing pathology services to Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. The Pathology Partnership is hosted by Barts Health. The Pathology Partnership was formed in May 2021 and operates a single network of laboratories underpinned by a single LIMS and a single QMS. It has a main hub laboratory at the Royal London Hospital and Essential Service Laboratories (ESL) at six other hospital sites. The Partnership has three operational divisions: Blood Sciences (Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry), Microbiology and Virology, Cellular Pathology and Cancer Diagnostics. The 2024/25 total operating costs were circa £121m per annum with a workforce establishment of around 860 WTE.
