Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an Assistant Technical Officer in Medical Engineering to support day-to-day operations and staff within the department.

The successful candidate will be educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent with maintenance experience and knowledge of health and safety legislation, plus duties including device library, calibration, stock, and equipment disposal.

Qualifications

• Educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Maintenance environment experience with an understanding of health and safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support to the Medical Engineering Department and staff.
• Maintain the medical device library and basic medical devices including calibration.
• Conduct electrical safety testing, routine service and minor device repair.
• Administer stock management, commissioning of new devices, and disposal of redundant equipment.
• Assist with theatre instrument processing, hoist work, ward rounds, and couch section reupholstering.
