Job summary

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a proactive Medical Equipment Technician to support the Medical Engineering Department in day-to-day operations, including device servicing, calibration, and safety testing.

You will manage the medical device library, assist with commissioning new devices, stock control and basic repairs, with NVQ3 or equivalent and experience in electronic maintenance preferred.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience.
• Experience in an electronic related discipline.
• Previous experience in a maintenance environment.
• Appreciation of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and electro-mechanical applications.
• Understanding of operation and calibration of diagnostic test equipment.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
• Knowledge of audio visual equipment.
• Experience of PAT testing (nice to have).
• ECDL or recognised IT competency qualification (nice to have).

Job description

This post supports the Medical Engineering Department at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust on a day-to-day basis. Core work covers the medical device library, electrical safety testing, routine servicing and calibration, and minor repairs to basic devices. Duties also include stock management, commissioning new equipment, disposing of redundant kit and practical tasks such as theatre instrument processing and hoist work. Fit depends on NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, maintenance experience and knowledge of health and safety law.
