Job summary

Edwards Vacuum in Bristol, United Kingdom, invites you to join a one-year Year in Industry placement where you will apply your mechanical engineering knowledge to real-world projects alongside experienced engineers.

You will gain hands-on experience in design, testing and manufacturing support for semiconductor equipment, develop CAD drawings and BOMs, and contribute to live projects while receiving mentorship and professional growth.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering and undertaking an industrial placement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn.
• Motivated to apply engineering theory in a practical environment and align with core values.

Responsibilities

• Complete a series of structured placements across mechanical engineering function over one year.
• Support design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
• Contribute to live engineering projects applying engineering principles to solve technical and operational challenges.
• Produce and maintain drawings, bills of materials, and associated engineering documentation; create accurate 3D parts and assemblies in CAD.
• Assist with system integration, verification, validation, and troubleshooting activities.

Main responsibilities -

• Completeaseriesofstructuredplacementsacrossmechanicalengineeringfunctionsoveraoneyearplacementprogramme.
• Supportthedesign, development, testing, andcontinuousimprovementof mechanical systemsusedwithinsemiconductormanufacturingequipment.
• Contributeto live engineeringprojects,applyingengineeringprinciplestosolvetechnicalandoperationalchallenges.
• Produceandmaintaindrawings,billsofmaterials, andassociatedengineeringdocumentation.Creat accurate 3D parts and assemblies in CAD, applying correct constraints and ensuring designs are ready for manufacture.
