Job summary

Edwards Vacuum offers a one-year Year in Industry placement in Clevedon, with on-site work in Bristol, UK. You will rotate through mechanical engineering functions, contribute to live projects, and develop CAD models and engineering documentation.

You will be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and gain hands-on experience while applying theory to practical industry challenges within a global engineering company.

Responsibilities

• Complete a series of structured placements across mechanical engineering functions over a one-year programme.

• Contribute to live engineering projects and apply engineering principles to technical and operational challenges.
• Produce and maintain drawings, bills of materials, and CAD models with correct constraints for manufacture.
• Assist with system integration, verification, validation, and troubleshooting activities.

Main Responsibilities

• Complete a series of structured placements across mechanical engineering functions over a one year placement programme.
• Support the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems used within semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
• Contribute to live engineering projects, applying engineering principles to solve technical and operational challenges.
• Produce and maintain drawings, bills of materials, and associated engineering documentation. Creat accurate 3D parts and assemblies in CAD, applying correct constraints and ensuring designs are ready for manufacture.
• Assist with system integration, verification, validation, and troubleshooting activities.

To succeed, you will need

• You are currently studying towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and are undertaking an industrial placement as part of your course.
• You demonstrate strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, a willingness to learn, and an enthusiasm for applying engineering theory in a practical environment.
