Job summary

Forward Assist Recruitment is seeking an experienced Machine Tool Maintenance Engineer for a heavy engineering site in Sheffield. The role focuses on mechanical maintenance and fault-finding across large machine tools and CNC equipment.

You will strip down, repair, align and rebuild machinery, with some electrical fault-finding support. A strong apprenticeship or engineering qualification is expected, and previous Webster & Bennett or similar machinery experience is a bonus.

Qualifications

• Requires strong mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience repairing and rebuilding heavy machinery.
• Knowledge of CNC or traditional machine tools.

Responsibilities

• Planned and reactive maintenance across heavy machine tools and equipment.
• Strip down and rebuild machinery.
• Maintain bearings, gearboxes, shafts, spindles and drive systems.
• Work with hydraulics and lubrication systems.
• Perform mechanical alignment and machine rebuilds.
• Fault-find on motors, sensors, switches and basic electrical systems.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and servicing.
• Support improvements and upgrades to existing machinery.
• Work on traditional and CNC-controlled machine tools.
