Job summary

SPX in Bristol is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineering Manager to provide hands-on technical leadership for a small team covering mechanical production engineering and test engineering support across the OEM portfolio.

You will bridge Operations, Manufacturing Partners, Design Engineering, Product Management and Project Management to resolve production issues, improve test methodology, and introduce new products to production.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical, production or test engineering background in an OEM or production setting.
• Experience leading small to medium technical teams and engineering support groups.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical, production and test issues and lead hands-on troubleshooting.
• Experience developing or sustaining product test methods and test equipment.
• Experience working with manufacturing partners or contract manufacturers.
• Experience supporting NPI, design transfer or production readiness.
• Strong root cause analysis and structured problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead technical projects independently and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small specialist team for mechanical production engineering and test engineering support.
• Transform test methodology, overhaul legacy test beds and implement scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with operations, manufacturing partners, design engineering, and product/project management.
• Act as the technical connection across Operations, partners and management.
