Job summary

FCC Environment is hiring a Mechanical Technician at the Gloucestershire EfW site. The role involves maintaining mechanical equipment across the plant and supporting the Mechanical Engineer to ensure reliability and safe operation.

You will perform routine maintenance, assist with outages, coordinate with contractors, and participate in training and mentoring of apprentices. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a 5-day week.

Qualifications

• Extensive maintenance experience within the power generation sector (Energy from Waste / CCGT / Oil / Coal / Biomass) or Armed Forces engineering background.
• Experience in demanding, dynamic environments.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe working environments.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; adaptable and able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Completing routine maintenance tasks on time and recording them in the plant's maintenance system.
• Prioritising and completing emergent work promptly.
• Assisting the Mechanical Engineer with reviewing/updating plant maintenance plans.
• Assisting with development of work scopes and supervising contractors during outages.
• Managing plant improvement projects from evaluation to implementation.
• Maintaining equipment and reporting defects or incorrect operation.
• Investigating and rectifying mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
• Assisting with statutory inspections and ensuring documentation is kept up to date.
• Coordinating mechanical maintenance activities and supporting other disciplines during shutdowns.
• Assisting with training and mentoring of apprentices.
• Providing 24/7 support by attending call-outs and overtime when required.
