Job summary

Johnson Matthey is seeking a Mechanical Technician (Fitter) for Brimsdown, London area, on a 12-hour shift pattern. You will maintain plant equipment, diagnose faults, perform PPMs and fabricate components from drawings. SAP experience and a safety-first mindset are important.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised mechanical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent vocational training.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance within manufacturing, industrial or heavy engineering environments.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documents.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
• Strong focus on health and safety with good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out mechanical maintenance, installation and repair of plant equipment and machinery.
• Diagnosing faults and resolving issues to maintain safe and reliable operations.
• Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and inspections across site.
• Fabricating or modifying components using engineering drawings or reverse engineering techniques.
• Maintaining critical systems including pumps, conveyors, valves, furnaces and piping.
• Recording maintenance activities and identifying spare parts requirements using SAP.
