Aeropeople Ltd is recruiting a Mechanical Technician/Fitter- Inflatables based at our Stansted site. The role involves disassembly, testing, repair and reassembly of inflatable safety equipment, including slides and rafts, with duties performed on a 39-hour week. On-site work five days a week and opportunities for a 9-day fortnight are available.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) required.
• OEM training in maintenance/overhaul of safety equipment desirable.
• Experience repairing/packing aircraft safety equipment desirable.
• Experience in engineering/workshop environment desirable.
• Ability to interpret and follow detailed compliance manuals.
• Teamwork, reliability and flexibility essential.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, test, fault find and repair safety equipment for slides/rafts.
• Reassemble safety equipment in line with manuals and OEM instructions.
• Manage basic servicing of inflatable safety components.
• Assist in maintaining compliance with health and safety policies.
• Support continuous improvement and record-keeping for maintenance.
• Work collaboratively within a small team of fitters and technicians.

Job Title: Mechanical Technician/Fitter- Inflatables

Salary: up to £32,000 per annum dependent upon experience

Aeropeople have partnered with a global designer and manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices who are now looking to hire a permanent Mechanical Technician/Fitter- Inflatables, to be based at their site in Stansted. The successful candidate would be expected to be on site 5 days per week.

They are a leading global provider of industrial technology solutions serving a diverse set of attractive niche markets, recognised as a global provider of third-party MRO services to commercial, regional and general aviation customers as well as military, helicopter and business jet markets. As a global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices they offer specialised services for more than 5,000 components over a variety of aircraft systems with capabilities covering aircraft windings, electrical power, hydraulic components, landing gear and safety equipment’s.

This role is working a 39 hour week. Hours of work are Monday- Thursday: 8am- 4.30pm and Friday: 8am- 4pm. A 9 day fortnight is available to those who want it.

Main Responsibilities:

• Disassemble, test, fault find and repair various safety equipment for slides, rafts and their sub components.
• Reassemble a variety of safety equipment, slides, rafts and their sub components in accordance with CMM’s / OHM’s and OEM packing instructions.
• Basic salary up to £32,000 dependent upon experience
• Overtime available at x 1.5 normal rate during the week/ x 2 normal rate at weekends
• Company pension (6% employer/ 3% employee)

• 25 days Annual Leave (increases to 26 after 10 years’ service) plus Bank holidays

About You:

• Numerate and literate – minimum GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English
• OEM training in maintenance and overhaul of safety equipment (highly desirable)
• Experience of repairing and packing aircraft safety equipment (highly desirable).
• Previous experience of working in an engineering/ workshop environment (highly desirable)
• Prior experience of interpreting and following in detail compliance manuals.
• Working within a small team of skilled fitters, reliability, flexibility and team work are key skill requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build close-knit relationships
• Strong organisation skills and excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and multi task whilst maintaining a high degree of quality, workmanship and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Strong communicator (written and verbal)
• Positive, enthusiastic, confident and motivated
