Are you an experienced automotive mechanic looking for your next challenge in a fast-paced and supportive environment? We’re looking for a Lead Mechanic / Mechanical Team Leader to join a dedicated team in Corby and play a key role in maintaining the mechanical integrity of a vehicle fleet.

  • Shifts: Monday to Friday, Rotating Shifts (06:00–14:00 and 14:00–22:00)
  • Type: Temp to Perm
  • Salary: £23.71per hour. Overtime and Unsociable hours paid at a increased rate.

About the Role:

Working under the supervision and co-ordination of the Technical manager, you will be required to ensure all lead the Mechanical team in diagnosing faults in products and to carry out any necessary repairs to ensure vehicles are mechanically sound prior to dispatch and that all vehicles comply with health and safety regulations as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Mechanic Supervisor in the day-to-day running of the workshop.
  • Act as team lead in the Supervisor’s absence, directing and motivating the team.
  • Diagnose faults and perform mechanical repairs to ensure vehicles are roadworthy.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels, replenishing when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Conduct final visual checks for damage or defects on all vehicles.
  • Keep a clean, tidy and safe work environment at all times.
  • Complete all necessary documentation accurately.
  • Assist with workflow planning and resource allocation to maximise efficiency.
  • Support other departments when required during busy periods.

About You:

Qualifications:

City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Automotive Mechanics or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Proven experience working as a mechanic in the automotive industry.
  • Strong understanding of modern mechanical repair methods and diagnostics.
  • Experience in a lead or supervisory role is an advantage.

Additional Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points (no DR offences).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet business needs.
