Job summary

Qualifications

Reporting directly to the Production Manager of a section within the manufacturing environment, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the SQCDP (safety, quality, cost, delivery, people) of their allocated area of responsibility. Responsible for managing team leaders supporting the supervisor to achieve key milestones and KPIs.

The Production Supervisor shall provide leadership to the team, support team leaders in coordinating workloads, monitoring issues, and maintaining quality standards while fostering a safe working culture.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Adherence to project schedules and key delivery milestones.
  • Adherence to allocated project budgets.
  • Control of all technical documentation within the production environment.
  • Leading production meetings with key internal stakeholders.
  • Working with the planning department to maintain delivery targets.
  • Supporting the Production Manager in conducting interviews as required.
  • Promoting a safe working environment through safety coaching, reporting accidents, root cause analysis, and preventative actions.
  • Ensuring full adherence to 5S practices.
  • Ensuring all policies and procedures are followed.
  • Building a relationship with the team based on mutual trust, keeping commitments.
  • Delegating tasks with clear instructions, ensuring team responsibilities are understood.
  • Encouraging ideas and supporting team members, learning from successes and failures.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Providing positive leadership during business challenges.
  • Supporting DFMA reviews to optimize design for manufacture and assembly.

Apply if you have most of the following:

  • Expertise in Manufacturing and Assembly processes.
  • Understanding of production methods and processes.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and design data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • IT skills, including Word, Excel, MRP, and Microsoft Projects.
  • Management skills with the ability to lead individuals or teams.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify root causes and provide solutions.

Education:

  • City and Guilds Apprenticeship or equivalent in Vehicle Body Building, Mechanical Fitting, or Manufacturing and Assembly Qualification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification is preferable but training can be provided.

Experience:

  • Vehicle Body Building, Mechanical Fitting, or equivalent trade.
  • Experience in planning methods and skills.
  • Leadership experience, including managing team leaders.

Additional local needs:

  • This role requires on-site presence full-time.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Flexibility to meet project needs as required.
