Job summary

The Shore Group is recruiting for experienced Mechanical Supervisors to join a leading specialist pipework contractor serving London and the South East. You will supervise mechanical installations on site, lead operatives and subcontractors, and ensure delivery to project specs and safety standards.

The role offers permanent or contract paths with competitive pay based on experience. Projects range from commercial fit-out to data centres, with packages from 5m to 25m.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years' experience in a Mechanical Supervisor/Foreman/Lead Mechanical Engineer role.
• Proven experience delivering mechanical installations on commercial fit-out, pharmaceutical, industrial or data centre projects.
• SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
• Valid CSCS card.
• Mechanical trade background or relevant engineering qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate day-to-day mechanical installation activities on site.
• Lead and manage mechanical operatives, subcontractors, and specialist trades.
• Ensure all mechanical works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and drawings.
• Monitor site progress against programme requirements and report updates to Project Managers and Site Management teams.
• Allocate labour, materials, plant, and equipment to maximise productivity.
• Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and installation details for accurate project delivery.
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to meet required standards.
• Carry out toolbox talks, site inductions, and safety briefings.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, company procedures and client requirements.
• Identify and resolve site issues with engineers, design teams, and project management.
• Complete and maintain site records, progress reports, permits, inspections, and quality documentation.
• Coordinate mechanical works with other trades to minimise delays.
• Assist with material planning, deliveries, and storage.
• Support commissioning, testing, and project handover activities.
• Attend site meetings and provide progress updates.
• Promote safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
• Valid CSCS card.
• Mechanical trade background or relevant engineering qualification preferred.
