Job summary

Borne Resourcing Limited is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Supervisor for a freelance assignment in Brighton. You will oversee like-for-like boiler replacements, pump installations, and complex pipework within a high-occupancy hospitality environment at Amex Brighton Stadium.

The role requires strong knowledge of hydronic systems, plant rooms, BMS interfaces, and contractor supervision to maintain service continuity. Immediate start possible.

Qualifications

• SSSTS and CSCS card are essential.
• Strong background in commercial pipefitting and industrial plumbing.
• Direct experience with boiler replacements in commercial plant rooms.
• Fluent understanding of hydronic flow, direct vs reverse returns, secondary pumps and controls.

Responsibilities

• Plant Room Upgrade: supervise like-for-like boiler replacements and new pump sets in operational plant rooms.
• System Modifications: oversee pipework changes and ensure correct reverse return layouts.
• Valves & Controls: manage heavy-duty commercial valve configurations and zone controls.
• H&S & Co-ordination: supervise contractors and ensure safe work in sensitive areas.
• BMS & Commissioning: coordinate with BMS upgrades and commissioning of new boilers.
• Site Supervision: act as onsite supervisor, manage safety and liaise with hotel management.

Mechanical Supervisor

Location: Brighton

Contract: Freelance

Start: End of Oct / Potentially sooner

Duration:2-8 months

Experienced Mechanical Supervisor with a strong foundation in commercial pipefitting/ Chillers / Pumps to oversee mechanical upgrades strictly within a the Amex Brighton Stadium.

This role is specifically centred around like-for-like Stadiumboiler room, plant roommodernisations,& critical Environments. This is not a domestic plumbing role; it requires a high-level commercial pipefitting supervisor who understands the complexities of maintaining service continuity in high-occupancy hospitality environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Plant Room Upgrade: Supervise and install like-for-like boiler replacements and new pump sets within operational hotel plant room.
• System Modifications: Oversee complex pipework modifications, ensuring correct implementation of reverse return layouts to maintain balanced water flow across multiple boiler units.
• Valves & Controls: Manage the configuration of heavy-duty commercial valving (isolation valves, non-return/check valves, PRVs, and zone control valves).
• H&S & Co-ordination: Supervising contractors, bringing them through to working stations, checking quality, how they are working, and what they are doing in sensitive areas.
• BMS & Commissioning: Coordinate with BMS upgrades, utilize PT ports (test/balancing nipples) for pressure/flow diagnostics, and oversee full system commissioning to safely bring new boilers online.
• Site Supervision: Act as the competent onsite supervisor, managing health and safety, coordinating sub-contractors, and liaising with hotel management to minimise guest disruption.

Required Criteria

• Qualifications: Valid SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) & CSCS Card is essential.
• Background: Proven, extensive background in commercial pipefitting and industrial plumbing.
• Plant Room Expertise: Direct experience managing like-for-like boiler replacements in commercial plant rooms (ideally hotels, hospitals, or large student accommodation blocks).
