Job summary

Trevett Project Services is seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and operation of mechanical and HVAC systems within a commercial building in Central London. You will supervise a team of engineers, ensuring safe working practices, high-quality maintenance, and excellent customer service across all building services operations.

The role requires strong knowledge of HVAC systems, experience with BMS fault diagnosis, and proven leadership of engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Experience as Mechanical Supervisor, Contract Supervisor or Senior Mechanical Engineer in building services or facilities management.
• NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 in Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical plant, pipework and general building services maintenance.
• Experience using Building Management Systems (BMS) for fault diagnosis.
• Understanding of electrical principles, safe isolation and basic controls fault-finding.
• Experience supervising engineering teams and managing maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the engineering team, ensuring safe and efficient work.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, site procedures and quality standards.
• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance of HVAC systems, pumps, valves, water tanks and related equipment.
• Diagnose faults using BMS and carry out repairs to mechanical plant and equipment.
• Supervise installation, modification and repair of pipework systems.
• Manage safety briefings, training, performance reviews, attendance and timesheets.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and meet timescales.
• Maintain records using CAFM systems and maintenance platforms.
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers, spare parts and materials to support service delivery.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and operation of mechanical and HVAC systems within a commercial building in Central London.

The successful candidate will supervise a team of engineers, ensuring safe working practices, high-quality maintenance and excellent customer service across all building services operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the engineering team, ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, site procedures and quality standards.
• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance of HVAC systems, pumps, valves, water tanks and associated mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose faults using Building Management Systems (BMS) and carry out repairs to mechanical plant and equipment.
• Supervise the installation, modification and repair of pipework systems.
• Manage safety briefings, staff training, performance reviews, attendance and timesheets.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests and ensure work is completed within agreed timescales.
• Maintain accurate records using CAFM systems and other maintenance platforms.
• Coordinate contractors, suppliers, spare parts and materials to support efficient service delivery.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Supervisor, Contract Supervisor or Senior Mechanical Engineer within building services or facilities management.
• NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical plant, pipework and general building services maintenance.
• Experience using BMS for fault diagnosis.
• Understanding of electrical principles, safe isolation and basic controls fault-finding.
• Experience supervising engineering teams and managing maintenance activities.
• Good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Desirable: Electrical qualifications and Authorised Person (Mechanical) status.
