Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) is recruiting a Mechanical Supervisor (Plumbing) at HMP Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire. Lead a skilled team of Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners and Administrators to maintain building services and deliver safe, reliable prison facilities.

You will oversee commercial and industrial heating, water and plumbing systems, ensure compliance with Water Regulations and Legionella L8, and promote safety and continuous improvement across shifts.

Qualifications

• A minimum of five years' experience, ideally within FM or secure environments.
• Experience working on commercial or industrial heating, water or building services.
• Familiar with Water Regulations and Legionella L8 requirements.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge and strong organisational skills.
• Knowledge of risk, compliance and project planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of trades including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters and Cleaners.
• Maintain and improve heating, water and building services within the facility.
• Ensure safety, compliance and timely delivery of facilities maintenance tasks.

• - City & Guilds 5962 - Certificate in Plumbing (Advanced Craft)
• - City & Guilds 6019 - Mechanical Engineering Services (Plumbing)
• - City & Guilds 6288-31 - Heating and Ventilating Craftsperson (Industrial & Commercial)
• - ETA Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance
• - City & Guilds 6188 - Heating and Ventilating
• - City & Guilds 6088 - Certificate in Heating and Ventilating
• - City & Guilds 6018 - Heating and Ventilation Installation
• - City & Guilds 214 - Engineering Systems Maintenance
• - A minimum of five years' experience, ideally within an FM environment and/ or secure environment, military, health or similar sectors.
• - Experience working on commercial or industrial heating, water or building service systems.
• - Familiar with, and ability to, work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
• - Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• - Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
• - A rounded knowledge of risk and compliance and demonstrable planning & project management skills.

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
