Job summary

Gold Group Ltd in Plymouth is seeking a Mechanical Stress Engineer to deliver end-to-end structural and stress analysis packages for marine mechanical and hybrid structures.

You will assess ageing assets, evaluate load paths and degradation, produce hand calculations, analytical models and supporting evidence, and lead analysis packages from scope to presentation while maintaining clear documentation and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience in structural or stress analysis within maritime, Defence, industrial or other regulated environments.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical structures, load paths and material behaviour.
  • Ability to assess ageing/degraded structures and apply engineering judgement with incomplete data.
  • Experience with structural hand calculations, analysis and FEA tools.
  • Clear communicator with confidence presenting to customers and stakeholders.

Job description

Mechanical Stress Engineer needed in Plymouth to join our client, an established engineering consultancy working on cutting edge systems within the marine industry.

The Mechanical Stress Engineer will deliver end‑to‑end structural and stress analysis packages for a wide range of marine mechanical and hybrid structures. You will assess new and ageing assets, evaluating load paths, through‑life degradation and other integrity challenges common in dockyard environments.

What the role of the Mechanical Engineer entails:
