Job summary

Home Bargains in Huyton, Liverpool, seeks a Shift Leader - Mechanical to oversee mechanical lines, lead a multidisciplinary team of operators, and drive uptime and efficiency. You’ll maintain tissue converting machinery, diagnose faults, and ensure safe, compliant operation across day and night shifts.

Experience in FMCG, strong troubleshooting, and ability to read schematics are essential. You will work rotating 6:00am–6:00pm and 6:00pm–6:00am shifts, with a competitive hourly rate and pension

Qualifications

• Experience in FMCG environments, preferably tissue converting.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault diagnosis ability.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Proficient with pneumatics, hydraulics and automated systems.
• Capable of using hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Experience leading a multidisciplinary operations team.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of operators on mechanical lines.
• Operate equipment to target standards and production aims.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on tissue converting machinery and packaging lines.
• Troubleshoot mechanical faults and implement downtime-reducing solutions.
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance ensuring safe operation (LOTO-PTW).
• Collaborate with production to minimise downtime and document activities.
• Assist with new equipment installations and manage contractor relationships.
• Support continuous improvement and maintenance procedure development.
