Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, IMechE accredited.

Ensuring the safety of engineering design for mechanical systems at a niche aviation engineering innovator in Uxbridge, West London, where you will be literally saving lives! This family-owned firm designs and manufactures specific safety systems for aerospace clients and is renowned for first-class products & services. You will be part of a top-tier team working with some of the brightest British engineers.

Role Overview:

The Mechanical Safety Engineer will work within the Product Safety department at the Uxbridge site. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety of aerospace product portfolios through investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement of designs and processes.

This involves generating design concepts aligned with regulatory and customer requirements, producing technical documentation such as 3D models, detailed drawings, and assembly instructions, and supporting design development with technical calculations and reviews. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is essential, and mentoring junior personnel may be required depending on experience.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • IMechE accredited Mechanical Engineering Degree, Aerospace Engineering Degree, or equivalent
  • 1st or 2.1 degree from Russell Group/Redbrick University preferred
  • Experience in requirements generation, technical evaluations, and trade studies
  • Proficiency in hand calculations and finite element software
  • Knowledge of GD&T to ASME Y14.5 standards
  • Design for assembly and manufacturing expertise
  • Experience in aerospace/defence standards such as ISO 15288 (desirable)
