2 x Mechanical QA Manager
Location: London
Type: Contract

1st Step Solutions is currently recruiting for experienced Mechanical QA Managers in London. The ideal candidates should have previous commercial experience, particularly on Mace projects.

Role Overview: In this role, you will manage the safety, technical standards, and quality of works within the business unit/site. This includes design and drawing reviews, supports and fixings, and adherence to the quality control management system.

Duties:

1. Demonstrate appropriate health and safety awareness, ensuring safety is prioritized throughout all project activities.
2. Conduct factory testing of major plant and equipment, report defective materials, and ensure corrective actions.
3. Manage cross-departmental risk mitigation processes and procedures.
4. Coordinate with project management to ensure all operatives possess the necessary qualifications and competencies.
5. Ensure manufacturer training is completed on site prior to installation.
6. Maintain and manage local records and promote best practices.
7. Disseminate notifications from SHE and central engineering to all operations teams.
8. Conduct toolbox talks and presentations as needed.
9. Review and comment on work-in-progress design drawings for accuracy and incorporation.
10. Ensure the inspection and test plan is developed, maintained, and monitored to comply with industry standards and legislation.
11. Produce and maintain test records and certifications; ensure test equipment is calibrated and certified.
12. Perform regular site inspections and produce QC audit reports, highlighting non-compliance and quality trends.
13. Ensure commissioning activities comply with legislation.
14. Ensure all snag defects are addressed as per the main contractor’s requirements.

Requirements:

• Current CSCS Skilled card in mechanical trade.
• SMSTS certification.
• Experience working on large commercial projects.
