Morson Edge is recruiting a Mechanical Project Manager for a major Nuclear New Build in North Somerset. The role is based on a construction site in Bridgwater with hybrid working (3–4 days on-site, balance remotely).

The contract is Inside IR35 and duration is approved until December 2027, with renewal possible. You will lead piping, mechanical supports and related works, coordinating with Construction, Quality, Planning and Commercial teams to ensure safe, compliant delivery and interface

Qualifications

• Typically degree qualified in a Mechanical/Engineering discipline.
• Significant experience delivering PM across major schemes, nuclear sector advantageous.
• APM certified (or equivalent).
• Large-scale mechanical construction/installation experience.
• Excellent communication and collaborative leadership skills.
• HSE champion and safety-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate across piping, valves, mechanical supports and related works with Construction, Quality, Planning and Commercial teams.
• Ensure safe, on-schedule delivery of complex mechanical scopes from readiness through installation, testing and handover.
• Manage interfaces, sequence installation, and coordinate multiple contractors and delivery teams.
• Use project data to monitor programme performance, address risks and drive priority actions.
• Interface with Client and supply chain to support timely decision-making.

Morson Edge are working on behalf of a major player in the Energy Sector who have a contract requirement for a Mechanical Project Manager to join their established Project team. All work is associated with the construction of a major Nuclear New Build infrastructure Project in North Somerset.

Typical Activities

The Mechanical Project Manager provides leadership and coordination across piping, valves, mechanical supports and associated mechanical works, working closely with Construction, Quality, Planning and Commercial teams, while liaising with the respective Engineering and Procurement teams to ensure technical and material requirements support the construction programme.

Responsible for the safe and effective site delivery of complex mechanical scopes within the B1 Area, from construction readiness through installation, testing, and handover.

Key responsibilities include coordinating site priorities and installation sequencing managing several contractors and delivery teams monitoring material and engineering readiness identifying and resolving construction constraints managing interfaces between disciplines and work areas and driving works through installation, testing, and system completion.

The role maintains strong oversight of programme performance, productivity, risk, and change, using project data to identify emerging issues, remove blockers and ensure resources are focused on priority activities.

The Mechanical Project Manager acts as a key interface between the Client, site delivery teams, and supply chain to maintain clear accountability and support timely decision-making.

• Significant experience of executing Project Management across major schemes/projects within regulated environs - Nuclear Sector highly advantageous
• APM certified (or equivalent)
