Here at MJ Quinn, we are looking to recruit a Mechanical Project Manager for our exciting and growing organisation.

About the role

You will be responsible for managing the effective delivery of mechanical services installation on our Bournemouth Contract, overseeing personnel and ensuring service delivery meets SLA standards. You will also develop strong commercial relationships to expand our local offerings.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Managing daily project delivery, including safety, quality, supplier performance, and client requirements.
  2. Commercial management and reporting to line managers.
  3. Promoting a “Safety First” and “Right First Time” culture through plans and supplier engagement.
  4. Leading M&E field supervisors responsible for the project.
  5. Investigating accidents, incidents, quality failures, and service issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  6. Collaborating with the commercial team to identify risks impacting budget, suppliers, or overhead costs.
  7. Managing relationships with suppliers, ensuring adherence to MJ Quinn standards.
  8. Managing staff, overseeing work schedules, and assigning duties.
  9. Ensuring quality service delivery, meeting performance standards and KPIs.
  10. Conducting staff performance and quality audits.
  11. Providing regular reports to the Contract Manager on progress, issues, and solutions.
  12. Assessing client designs and conducting walkouts with client supervisors.
  13. Overseeing site works, methodologies, and schedules.
  14. Adhering to safety and performance standards.
  15. Working as part of a team to deliver projects on time and to high standards.
  16. Promoting a professional image by following company policies and standards.
  17. Raising and following up on non-conformance reports to resolve issues.
  18. Working safely within MJ Quinn’s values, policies, and operational procedures to prevent harm.

Experience and qualifications

  • Strong planning, organisation, and monitoring skills.
  • Experience working on NEC 3-4 contracts.
  • Experience delivering healthcare projects from a mechanical perspective.
  • Recognised Building Services Qualification – ONC / HNC in Building Services Engineering.
  • Experience in programme management.
  • Solid mechanical systems knowledge for installation projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High numeracy skills.
  • Educated to at least GCSE B+ in Mathematics & English (or equivalent).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to prioritise, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage expectations.
  • Flexible and adaptable in approach.
  • Legal right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS check required due to client building access.
  • Full UK Driving License held for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points.
