Job summary

Gearing Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking a mechanically biased Mechanical Project Engineer to join a major long-term water programme in the North East. You will coordinate mechanical works on site across water and wastewater facilities, pumping stations, reservoirs and related assets, supporting installation, testing, commissioning and handover.

Close collaboration with project managers, site managers and design teams is essential to deliver on programme, quality standards and safe working

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical installation within water, utilities or process environments.
• Experience delivering installation packages on site.
• Knowledge of pumps, piping, valves and mechanical systems is preferred.
• Experience in AMP programmes is advantageous.

Mechanical Project Engineer - Water

We are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join a major long-term water programme in the North East.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer with experience delivering installation packages within water, utilities, process engineering or a similar construction environment.

Working across water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, reservoirs and associated assets, you'll take responsibility for coordinating mechanical works on site and supporting projects through installation, testing, commissioning and handover.

The Role

Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Design Engineers, subcontractors and client teams, you'll help ensure mechanical packages are delivered safely, on programme and to the required technical and quality standards.

• Managing and coordinating mechanical installation activities on site
• Supervising and coordinating mechanical subcontractors
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and construction documentation
• Coordinating mechanical works with civil, electrical, ICA and commissioning teams
• Monitoring progress against programme and identifying potential delays or technical issues
• Resolving engineering and construction queries with project and design teams
• Carrying out site inspections and ensuring installations meet specification
• Supporting RAMS, ITPs, permits and other project documentation
• Coordinating materials, plant and equipment required for upcoming works
• Supporting mechanical testing, commissioning and handover
• Managing defects and ensuring remedial works are closed out
• Maintaining accurate quality, progress and technical records

What We're Looking For

You'll ideally have experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Site Engineer or similar within a construction or process environment.

You'll need a good understanding of mechanical installation and be comfortable working with equipment such as pumps, pipework, valves and associated mechanical/process systems.

Previous UK water or wastewater experience would be highly advantageous, particularly experience working on AMP programmes, but we're also interested in engineers from other transferable sectors such as utilities, energy, industrial/process, manufacturing or infrastructure.

Experience with commissioning, NEC contracts and multidisciplinary MEICA projects would also be beneficial.

An HNC/HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline is preferred, alongside appropriate site qualifications.
