Job summary

Reed is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the design and delivery of bespoke industrial equipment and complete processing systems from concept through commissioning. You will handle plant layouts, mechanical design, manufacturing support and site activities, coordinating with customers, suppliers and internal teams.

The role offers diverse projects, ownership, and opportunities to optimise design and drive improvements across the full lifecycle, including manufacturing support and on-site

Qualifications

• Experience as a Project Engineer or similar.
• Strong SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD experience.
• Experience designing mechanical equipment, machinery or conveyors.

Responsibilities

• Produce 2D and 3D general arrangement drawings and system layouts.
• Design and develop mechanical equipment using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
• Support projects from concept, design and release through to installation and commissioning.
• Work closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement, innovation and design optimisation.

An established engineering business is looking for a Project Engineer to play a key role in the design and delivery of bespoke industrial equipment and complete processing systems.

This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety, ownership and seeing projects through from initial concept to commissioning. You'll be involved in everything from plant layouts and mechanical design through to manufacturing support, customer interaction and site activities.

The Opportunity

You'll join a collaborative engineering team responsible for delivering complex mechanical systems for industrial applications. No two projects are the same, meaning you'll have the chance to solve real engineering challenges rather than producing the same designs day after day.

The successful candidate will take ownership of projects throughout the full lifecycle, working closely with manufacturing teams, customers, suppliers and project stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce 2D and 3D general arrangement drawings and system layouts.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience as a Project Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Design Engineer or similar


• Strong SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD experience


• Experience designing mechanical equipment, machinery, material handling systems, conveyors, special purpose machinery or similar capital equipment


• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing and project teams


• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Nice To Have (But Not Essential)

• Structural steel design, platforms, walkways or access systems


• Tekla or SolidSteel experience


• Experience within recycling, waste processing, bulk handling or related industries


• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems


• Hydraulics or electrical understanding

Structural engineering experience is considered a bonus rather than a requirement, so candidates with strong mechanical design and project engineering backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
