Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is seeking a Mechanical Project & Compliance Engineer to lead a team of mechanical engineers in delivering discretionary capital schemes and managing statutory plant and equipment. You will provide professional advice on design standards, technical requirements and mechanical compliance to deliver cost-effective, compliant solutions.

The role requires extensive knowledge of current mechanical regulations with Welsh language capability considered

Responsibilities

• The post holder will deliver discretionary capital schemes and manage estates statutory plant & equipment.
• Provide professional leadership, advice and support on mechanical engineering matters, design standards, technical requirements and alternative construction/design methods to optimise cost effectiveness and design solutions.
• Undertake the role of Health Board Specialist Lead Advisor with regard to mechanical issues / matters arising on capital schemes.
• Complete detailed designs and works specifications for Mechanical schemes to meet the agreed project brief for Capital Schemes.
• Check and approve detailed designs and works specifications for Mechanical schemes completed by internal design staff and external design consultants to meet the agreed project brief for Capital Schemes.
• Provide technical advice on the design, requirements and management of the UHB estates statutory plant & equipment.
• Develop action plans to address statutory estate issues across the UHB.
• Utilise technical knowledge to provide full range of capital planning services required by the UHB, ensuring statutory/mandatory compliance.
• Advise on mechanical issues / matters arising on capital schemes / site issues and solutions.

Job description

The post holder will be professionally, technically and managerially responsible for the delivery of designated capital projects from completion of the project brief through detailed design to commissioning and final handover.

To provide highly specialist professional leadership, advice and support on mechanical engineering matters, design standards, technical requirements and alternative methods of construction and design in order to achieve optimum cost effectiveness and design solutions.

Undertake the role of Health Board Specialist Lead Advisor with regard to mechanical issues / matters arising on capital schemes.

The Capital, Estates and Facilities Directorate are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Mechanical Project & Compliance Engineer to manage a team of mechanical engineers in the delivery of discretionary capital schemes and the management of estates statutory plant & equipment.

The successful candidate will be able to provide professional advice and support on all types of mechanical projects, design standards, technical requirements and mechanical statutory compliance matters to achieve optimum cost effectiveness and design solutions.

They will provide advice on mechanical issues / matters arising on capital schemes / site issues and solutions.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
