Mechanical - Multi Skilled Technician Shift

We are seeking a Multi-Skilled Shift Technician to join our Building Services team onsite at Royal London Hospital. The role involves undertaking planned preventative maintenance, testing, repairs, and new installations across a wide range of equipment, services, systems, and buildings associated with hospital operations. Responsibilities also include performing CP duties as qualified.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Estates Management in providing 24-hour maintenance services at LRH.
  • Work safely on ELV/LV and generated electrical systems, complying with all statutory regulations and health and safety legislation as a Competent Person (LV) for SFS.
  • Maintain hospital equipment, plant, services, and systems, including inspection and testing of electrical and mechanical equipment and installations.
  • Work safely on mechanical systems, including HVAC, washroom services, sterilizers, bedpan macerators/washers, disinfectors, and other mechanical equipment, as a Competent Person for SFS.
  • Diagnose faults and repair electrical and mechanical complex equipment within PMS timeframes, following HTMs and HBNs.
  • Participate in the operation and control of engineering planned maintenance schemes, completing all necessary documentation.
  • Carry out installations or alterations in compliance with legislative and hospital regulations, such as IEE Regulations.
  • Work within fine tolerances and calibrate sensitive equipment safely.
  • Provide training, guidance, and technical advice to trainees and maintenance assistants.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Estates Manager.
Candidate Requirements
  • BTEC/HNC or City & Guilds Craft certificate or equivalent.
  • Recognized apprenticeship.
  • Certificate in 17th Edition IEE Regulations (Current).
  • Competent Person for Low Voltage Systems (latest edition of The Electrical Safety Code).
  • Competent in mechanical systems.
  • At least 3 years relevant trade experience.
  • Good knowledge of H&S legislation and some knowledge of COSHH.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Experience in building maintenance and systems, especially in hospital environments.
  • Experience working on specialist hospital equipment and lone working.
  • Knowledge of hospital-specific standards (HTMs) and HBNs.
