Job summary

Think FE Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for the College Estates team in North Yorkshire. The role focuses on keeping college buildings and mechanical systems running safely and efficiently through planned maintenance and responsive repairs.

You will service heating, cooling and ventilation, troubleshoot faults, and support water systems and TMVs. A practical, hands-on approach with strong safety awareness is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in mechanical maintenance, facilities management or engineering environment.
• Practical experience using tools and maintenance equipment safely.
• Ability to identify faults and carry out basic mechanical repairs.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to maintenance work.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, organised and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond to day-to-day maintenance requests.
• Support the servicing, maintenance and repair of mechanical building services.
• Maintain and troubleshoot heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
• Conduct routine inspections, identify faults and carry out repairs.
• Assist with the maintenance and monitoring of water systems and associated equipment.
• Support repairs and replacements of mechanical components, including thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs).
• Work with experienced colleagues and external contractors when required.
• Ensure tools, equipment and work areas are maintained safely.
• Follow health and safety procedures and help maintain a safe environment for students, staff and visitors.
• Respond to occasional emergency maintenance issues or out-of-hours requirements.
