Job summary

Mars Petcare’s Melton Mowbray factory is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a fast‑moving FMCG operation. You’ll drive fault finding, lead maintenance activities and deliver solutions that cut downtime and improve safety and quality on ABB/Kuka robotics, Allen Bradley PLCs and predictive maintenance tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum Higher Certificate or Higher Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Proven technical expertise in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.
• Strong problem-solving capability with root cause analysis experience.
• Proficient in key systems and tools including Microsoft Excel, PI ProcessBook, and SAP Planned Maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Fault find and problem solve on a broad range of equipment.
• Deliver maintenance activities to ensure smooth production availability.
• Participate in risk assessments and formulate safe method statements.
• Identify parts for purchasing to complete work.
• Fix breakdowns in a timely manner during the shift.
• Record breakdowns and known jobs in Atlas.

What We’re Looking For

• Qualified to a minimum of Higher Certificate or Higher Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline, supported by practical experience
• Proven technical expertise within a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.
• Strong problem‑solving capability, with experience in root cause analysis of technical issues.
• Proficient in key systems and tools, including Microsoft Excel, PI ProcessBook, and SAP Planned Maintenance.
• Competent in risk assessment and change control processes, ensuring compliance and safe working practices.
• Experienced in leading root cause analysis and fault-finding investigations to drive sustainable improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Ability to fault find and problem solve on a broad range of equipment in a variety of situations.
• Effective delivery of maintenance activities, to ensure smooth transition between maintenance and production availability of equipment.
• Take part in risk assessments and formulation of method statements to assist in safe undertaking of any activity.
• Identify parts for the purchasing of goods and services where these are necessary to conclude work.
• Fix breakdowns in a timely manner during their shift timeframe.
• Level one problem solving including component failure analysis.
• Detailed entry into Atlas of all breakdowns / known jobs.
