H9 Talent Solutions is sourcing a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for an energy-from-waste operator in Slough. The role focuses on hands-on maintenance and fault finding to keep a continuous-process plant running safely and efficiently.

The candidate should have an engineering apprenticeship, ideally an HNC/HND, with experience in heavy process environments and knowledge of conveyors, gearboxes and hydraulic systems. IOSH Managing Safely is desirable.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship trained engineer required; HNC/HND advantageous.
• Experience in 24/7 heavy process environments essential.
• IOSH Managing Safely certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical maintenance and repairs across plant process systems and equipment.
• Diagnose faults involving gearboxes, conveyors, valves, rotating equipment and hydraulics.
• Complete routine inspections, lubrication and adjustments to maintain efficient operation.
• Plan assigned maintenance tasks and assess risks.
• Provide technical guidance and work instructions to colleagues.
• Support safety inspections, audits and meetings and report concerns.

Circa £46,000 + £2,500 annual call-out allowance + benefits

H9 Talent Solutions is recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for an established energy-from-waste operator in Slough.

You’ll join the plant’s Operations & Maintenance team, maintaining the mechanical equipment that keeps a continuous-process facility running safely and reliably. This is a hands‑on opportunity for an apprenticeship-trained engineer who enjoys fault finding, resolving breakdowns and improving equipment performance.

The role

• Carry out mechanical maintenance and repairs across plant process systems and equipment.
• Diagnose faults involving gearboxes, conveyors, valves, rotating equipment and hydraulic systems.
• Complete routine inspections, lubrication and adjustments to maintain efficient operation.
• Plan assigned maintenance tasks, identify risks and complete relevant assessments.
• Provide technical guidance and work instructions to colleagues when required.
• Support safety inspections, audits and meetings, reporting concerns promptly.

What we’re looking for

• A recognised engineering apprenticeship; an HNC/HND in Engineering would be advantageous.
• Mechanical maintenance experience within a 24/7 heavy process environment.
• Experience maintaining equipment such as conveyors, gearboxes, steam-raising plant, valves, rotating machinery and hydraulics.
• IOSH Managing Safely.
• Strong fault-diagnosis, problem-solving and maintenance-planning skills.
• A safety-focused approach and clear communication skills.
• Experience in energy from waste, power generation or another comparable heavy process industry would be particularly relevant.
