Job summary

PE Global is recruiting a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for a leading multinational manufacturer in Peterborough on an initial 12-month contract. The role focuses on maintenance, repair and installation of facility equipment with a 37-hour week and a 9-day fortnight.

Responsibilities include fault finding on hydraulic/pneumatic/electrical systems, adhering to 5S and safety standards, and training apprentices. Competitive hourly PAYE/umbrella rates are offered.

Qualifications

• Must have full engineering indentured apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
• Thorough knowledge of maintenance processes, machine shop operations, equipment, and quality objectives.
• Ability to read mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical drawings and schematics.

Job description

PE Global is currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for a leading multi-national manufacturing client based in Peterborough.

This is an initial 12 months contract position.

Pay rate is £22.51ph PAYE or £30.55ph Umbrella.

37 hours per week.

9-day fortnight working pattern.

Typical core hours around 07:30.

Flexible working: Earliest start around 06:00, Later start around 07:30

Finish times vary accordingly.

Duties of the role/Responsibilities

• Responding to testbed and other facility breakdowns using fault finding to effectively conduct repairs using a variety of techniques.
• Cover the maintenance, repair and installation of new facility equipment.
• Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions, using various hand power tools and lifting equipment provided.
• Engaging with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team including peers, engineers, and external contractors.
• Run improvement and root cause investigation projects and present findings through technical presentations to the wider team.
• Training and supporting apprentices and co-workers.
• Balancing workload and priorities in line with the business needs.
• Working to and modelling health and safety standards to keep individuals, team members and the public safe.
• Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S.

Education/Experience

Candidates will have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

• Served a full engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or Qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent and/or relevant job related experience.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of maintenance processes and tools, machine shop operations, equipment and processes plus familiarity with materials and quality objectives.
• Ability to read and interpret, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical drawings and schematics.

Candidates may have gained the following skills and experience through previous roles:

• Fault finding and diagnostics on hydraulic systems or Fuel Systems.
• Laser alignment of rotating equipment.

The Successful Candidate may also be a subject matter expert in one of the following fields
