Job summary

Seismic Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for a site-based role in Peterborough. This 12-month contract may be extended and operates on a 9-day fortnight with an earliest start around 6am. The role offers a competitive hourly rate with PAYE or Umbrella options.

You will maintain mechanical plant at the Global Engine Development facility, perform fault finding, repairs, and installations, and support safety and 5S standards while collaborating with a diverse team.

Qualifications

• Served a full engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or NVQ level 3 or equivalent and/or relevant job related experience.
• Thorough knowledge of maintenance processes and tools, machine shop operations, equipment and quality objectives.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Responding to testbed and facility breakdowns using fault finding to conduct repairs.
• Cover maintenance, repair and installation of new facility equipment.
• Follow documented standard work procedures with hand tools and lifting equipment.
• Engage with a multi-disciplinary team including peers, engineers and external contractors.
• Lead improvement and root cause investigations and present findings to the team.
• Train and support apprentices and coworkers.
• Balance workload and priorities to meet business needs.
• Maintain health and safety standards to keep people safe.
• Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S.

Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Competitive Hourly Rate - up to £22.06p/h PAYE OR up to £29.94p/h Umbrella

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will have the knowledge, base skills and experience to be able to maintain the mechanical plant within the Global Engine Development facility to the high standard required to keep the company at the forefront of today's technology.

Mechanical Maintenance Technician Responsibilities

• Responding to testbed and other facility breakdowns using fault finding to effectively conduct repairs using a variety of techniques.
• Cover the maintenance, repair and installation of new facility equipment.
• Follow documented standard work procedures/instructions, using various hand power tools and lifting equipment provided.
• Engaging with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team including peers, engineers, and external contractors.
• Run improvement and root cause investigation projects and present findings through technical presentations to the wider team.
• Training and supporting apprentices and co-workers.
• Balancing workload and priorities in line with the business needs.
• Working to and modelling health and safety standards to keep individuals, team members and the public safe.
• Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S.

Qualifications & Experience Required of the Mechanical Maintenance Technician

• Served a full engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or Qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent and/or relevant job related experience.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of maintenance processes and tools, machine shop operations, equipment and processes plus familiarity with materials and quality objectives.
• Ability to read and interpret, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical drawings and schematics.
