Job summary

Mars Petcare in Melton Mowbray is hiring a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. You will drive reduced repair times, provide technical leadership, and deliver solutions that minimize downtime across advanced systems.

The role requires strong fault-finding ability, experience in FMCG environments, and proficiency with Excel, PI Process Book, and SAP PM. Excellent teamwork and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC/HND in mechanical engineering, backed by practical experience.
• Experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments; ability to troubleshoot and maintain complex mechanical systems.
• Proven problem-solving skills including Root Cause Analysis and fault finding.
• Proficient with Excel, PI Process Book and SAP Planned Maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance automated electromechanical systems from refrigeration to meat processing equipment, conveyors, and fluid systems.
• Diagnose breakdowns and ensure timely resolutions to reduce downtime.
• Lead by example as a team leader and technical coach to elevate the team.
• Drive small-scale improvements contributing to continuous innovation and efficiency.
• Champion safety by participating in risk assessments and adhering to safety standards (ISO 14000, PTW, Hot Work).
• Act as the bridge between operations and technical teams with clear communication.
• Develop talent through technical training and coaching.

• Technical qualifications: Minimum HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or a related field, backed by practical experience

• Experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments: You know how to troubleshoot andmaintaincomplex mechanical systems.

• Proven problem-solving skills: You excel at Root Cause Analysis and fault finding.

• Technicalproficiency: Skilled in using Microsoft Excel, PI Process Book, and SAP Planned Maintenance.
