Job summary

Mars Petcare in Melton Mowbray is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to manage automated systems across meat processing equipment and conveyors. You will lead troubleshooting, drive improvements, and coach teammates to boost reliability.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments; troubleshoot and maintain complex mechanical systems.
• Proven problem-solving skills including Root Cause Analysis and fault finding.
• Technical proficiency with Excel, PI Process Book, and SAP Planned Maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Keep automated, electromechanical systems running—from refrigeration to meat processing equipment, conveyors and fluid systems.
• Diagnose breakdowns and deliver timely resolutions to reduce downtime and boost productivity.
• Lead by example and coach colleagues to elevate the team’s technical capability.
• Take on small-scale improvements contributing to continuous innovation and efficiency.
• Champion safety through risk assessments and adherence to ISO 14000, PTW and Hot Work.
