Job summary

Mars Petcare in Melton Mowbray is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to keep high-speed processing lines running and ensure product quality.

You will troubleshoot, lead technically, and drive improvements using SAP PM, PI Process Book, and Excel while working 37.5 hours Mon-Fri from 7am to 3pm.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or a related field, backed by practical experience.
• Strong problem-solving and trouble-shooting abilities in FMCG/manufacturing environments.
• Experience using SAP Planned Maintenance, PI Process Book and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance automated electromechanical systems – from refrigeration to meat processing equipment, conveyors, and fluid systems.
• Diagnose breakdowns and ensure timely resolutions to reduce downtime and boost productivity.
• Lead by example and coach colleagues, sharing technical expertise to elevate the team.
• Drive small-scale improvements and contribute to continuous innovation and efficiency.
• Participate in safety risk assessments and ensure activities comply with safety standards (ISO 14000, PTW, Hot Work).
• Facilitate clear communication between operations and technical teams and develop talent through training.

What We’re Looking For

• Technical qualifications: Minimum HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or a related field, backed by practical experience

• Experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments: You know how to troubleshoot andmaintaincomplex mechanical systems.

• Proven problem-solving skills: You excel at Root Cause Analysis and fault finding.

• Technicalproficiency: Skilled in using Microsoft Excel, PI Process Book, and SAP Planned Maintenance.

• Leadership & teamwork: You thrive in a collaborative setting, with the ability to coach and inspire others.
