Job summary

Mars Petcare's Melton Mowbray factory is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to cut downtime and drive improvements across electromechanical systems, including refrigeration and meat processing lines.

You will lead by example, coach colleagues, and apply Root Cause Analysis, PLCs (Allen-Bradley), SAP PM and Excel in a fast-paced FMCG environment, with a 37.5-hour week, a welcome bonus, pension, healthcare, and on-site facilities.

Qualifications

• Technical qualifications: Minimum HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or a related field, with practical experience.
• Proven experience with FMCG/manufacturing environments and maintaining complex mechanical systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills including Root Cause Analysis and fault finding.

Responsibilities

• Keep systems running smoothly by maintaining and optimising automated electromechanical equipment.
• Diagnose breakdowns and implement timely resolutions to reduce downtime and improve productivity.
• Lead and coach colleagues, sharing expertise to elevate the team and drive continuous improvement.
• Drive safety and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with standards (ISO 14000, PTW, Hot Work).
• Collaborate across operations and technical teams to ensure clear communication.

What We’re Looking For

• Technical qualifications: Minimum HNC/HND in mechanical engineering or a related field, backed by practical experience

• Experience in FMCG or manufacturing environments: You know how to troubleshoot andmaintaincomplex mechanical systems.

• Proven problem-solving skills: You excel at Root Cause Analysis and fault finding.

• Technicalproficiency: Skilled in using Microsoft Excel, PI Process Book, and SAP Planned Maintenance.
